Giving Straight from the Heart to the WHAA Holiday Fund
Each year, the Wheeler High Alumni Association (WHAA) comes together to help Wheeler students in need during the holiday season. You may remember a friend who was treated differently because they were on a subsidized lunch program or the classmate who often wore the same hand-me-downs to school. While you may have been too young to understand their situations, you do remember their struggles. Now you have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a Wheeler student. It’s not charity; it’s a gift that will return to you the true joy of the season.
Last year, the WHAA donated over $4,500 to help WHS students and their families during the holidays. I've gotten a late start with this fundraiser this year so have set the goal at $2,000. Every penny donated goes to purchase gift certificates from grocers and clothing retailers so students can have a new sweater for school or food on the table during the holidays. The WHAA Holiday Fund is coordinated through WHS social worker Julie Lance who works with Wheeler students that need financial assistance simply to attend school. Will you help those that now walk the same halls you did?
Please send your contribution by Wednesday, December 17 at 6 pm to make a student’s holiday wish come true. You can use PayPal through the Holiday Fund link on www.wheeleralumni.com or mail your donation directly to:

Teens are often overlooked this time of year. Your thoughtful gift will show them that those alumni who came before them understand. You care to show your support and give them hope for a brighter tomorrow. Thank you for showing these Wheeler students in need the true reason for the season.
